Job summary

Shelbyville Central Schools is seeking a Paraprofessional (Instructional) specialized for Special Education to join our support staff. This part-time position offers 28 hours per week and focuses on assisting instructional personnel with learning materials, tutoring students, and supporting CPI-driven practices.

The role includes monitoring testing, maintaining attendance logs, and aiding in daily tutoring while promoting positive classroom discipline and engagement with students of varying ages

Responsibilities

• Assists instructional personnel with development and presentation of learning materials and exercises.
• Tutors students individually or in small groups to reinforce and follow up learning activity.
• Attends Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) and implements successfully.
• Works well with at risk students.
• Assists teacher in maintaining discipline in a positive manner.
• Utilizes a variety of resources to engage students.
• Handles clerical functions related to job responsibilities.
• Assists in administering pre and post-testing of standardized or grade level tests.
• Monitors student classroom academic testing results and correlates information to planning for students.
• Plans for and executes daily tutoring for the students.
• Keeps daily logs and monitors daily attendance of students in special intervention programs.
• Helps students master instructional equipment or materials assigned by the teacher.
• Attends assigned professional development and implements new practices successfully.
• Well organized and takes initiatives.
• Demonstrates a strong work ethic and ability to be flexible.
• Maintains satisfactory attendance.
• Enjoys working with children of all ages, grades, and abilities.
• Complies with Corporation Bylaws, Policies and Employee Handbook.
