Job summary

Washington County Public Schools seeks a Paraprofessional Special Education Itinerant Adult Support at Smithsburg High School. 7 hours per day, 10-month year, starting hourly rate $19.26 with potential growth on the ESP Salary Scale to $34.84; a 10% program differential applies to PreK-12 teaching experience under licensure.

Position reports to the BCBA Coordinator and may involve moving between locations to meet student needs.

Qualifications

High School Diploma/GED required.
Ability to attain and maintain CPI certification.
Two years of experience working with children or equivalent education/experience.
Ability to lift 30-50 pounds as needed.
Ability to document data as per Behavior Intervention Plans.

Responsibilities

Work with individual students and small groups to reinforce skills and behaviors.
Observe, document behaviors to support data collection and progress reports.
Submit data for progress monitoring and required reports.
Assist teacher with strategies to reinforce instruction and manage classroom activities.
Support care of classroom equipment and supervise students during activities.
Respond to behavior crises with de-escalation; assist with safety procedures as needed.
Assist with personal care and physical management when required.
Align with individual programs designed by the teacher and participate in planning sessions.
