Job summary

Washington County Public Schools invites applications for a Paraprofessional Special Education Itinerant Adult Support at Eastern Elementary School. The position, with a 7 hours/day, 10-month work year, reports to a BCBA Coordinator and provides adult support per IEPs, with possible location changes to meet student needs.

Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or GED, CPI certification, two years’ experience with children, and ability to lift 30–50 pounds.

Qualifications

• CPI certification required and maintained.
• Ability to document data and submit daily reports.
• Strong interpersonal skills for collaboration with staff, students, and community.

Responsibilities

• Support individual students and small groups to reinforce skills.
• Observe and document behaviors for data collection and updates to behavior plans.
• Document data for progress monitoring and required reports.
• Assist teacher with strategies and classroom equipment.
• Supervise and manage students during instructional and non-instructional activities.
• Respond to behavior crises with de-escalation and safety interventions.
• Assist with personal care and physical management as needed.
• Follow through on individual programs designed by teachers.
• Participate in team planning and supervision sessions.
• Demonstrate courteous and professional demeanor to stakeholders.
