Job summary

Sarah's Circle in Chicago is seeking an experienced Cook to prepare lunch and dinner for 50 residents in the Interim Housing (IH) program. You will plan menus, order supplies, and ensure clean, organized kitchen operations with sensitivity to trauma-informed care.

The role requires 2+ years of cooking experience, a Food Service Manager Certification and City of Chicago license, and the ability to work a Friday–Tuesday shift. Benefits include healthcare and paid time off.

Qualifications

• Food Service Manager Certification and City of Chicago license required.
• At least two years of cooking experience in a food service setting.
• Experience with homelessness/trauma preferred.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain weekly menus and adjust as needed.
• Develop menus meeting USDA guidelines and adjust for health conditions.
• Assist with food and kitchen supply ordering, delivery, and inventory.
• Maintain organized pantries, refrigerators, and freezers.
• Assemble and provide bagged lunches.
• Prepare meals ahead for time off and absences.
• Ensure sanitation and safe storage of all food.
• Coordinate kitchen organization across locations.
• Participate in staff meetings and trainings.
