Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.

Responsibilities

• Provides specialized instruction, with specific educational planning, for students whose needs cannot be met within the general classroom.
• Develops, implements, and annually reviews student IEPs according to federal, state and local procedures; maintains ongoing records of student performance and IEP implementation.
• Assists in screening, evaluating and recommending placements of students for the division’s special education program.
• Performs as a member of an interdisciplinary team to provide appropriate educational programs for students with disabilities.
• Holds periodic parent conferences and/or home visits.
• Complies with all special education procedures from the division-wide Special Education Handbook and Virginia State Regulations Governing Students with Disabilities.
