Job summary

Omaha Public Schools Beveridge Middle in Omaha, Nebraska, seeks a qualified Sign Language Interpreter for the 2026-2027 school year. The SLI will provide interpreting and related support to deaf and hard-of-hearing students within the school, facilitating communication between students, teachers, and staff.

Requires an Associate degree in Sign Language Interpreting and licensure/certification (EIPA, RID, NAD, NIC or QAST).

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Sign Language Interpreting required.
• Passing score on EIPA written exam and one or more state/national certifications (e.g., RID, NAD, NIC, QAST) preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of ASL or other sign language systems desired.
• Excellent attendance, professionalism and ability to work with diverse students and staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide interpreting and support services to deaf and hard of hearing students.
• Facilitate communication between students, teachers and staff.
• Participate in meetings as a member of the educational team.
• Meet professional development requirements as defined by Nebraska statutes.
• Interpret and transliterate for parent meetings when needed.
• Assist with classroom adaptations and support as directed by the team.
