Job summary

Virginia Beach City Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Teacher with a focus on Speech Language Pathology. Qualifications

• Master's degree in an approved program for Speech Language Pathology.
• Eligible or possess VA Board of Audiology and Speech Language Pathology license from the Virginia Department of Health Professions.
• A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and indirect instructional support to students in a positive environment.
• Employ special educational strategies to improve sensory, perceptual-motor, language, cognition, and memory skills.
• Instruct students using phonetics, multi-sensory learning, and repetition to meet diverse needs.
• Meet with parents to discuss progress and determine priorities for individualized needs.
• Confer with parents, administrators, testing specialists, social workers, and others to develop IEPs.
• Maintain accurate and complete student records and prepare reports as required by laws and district policies.
• Establish clear objectives for lessons and communicate them to students.
• Develop plans for communication, monitoring, and follow-up in inclusive classrooms.
• Provide crisis intervention as needed for students in inclusive classrooms.
