Job summary

Brown & Brown, Inc. in Tyler, Texas is seeking an Accountant – FEIC to manage vendor payments, journal entries, and regulatory compliance across FEIC entities. The role demands strong accounting knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to handle large data sets and reporting deadlines.

The ideal candidate will be proficient with accounting software (Great Plains, AMS360, QuickBooks) and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills for reporting to management and auditors.

Qualifications

• Office manager or progressive accounting responsibility experience preferred.
• Great Plains, QuickBooks and AMS360 experience preferred.
• Strong organizational, excel, analytical, communication, customer service and computer skills.
• Understanding of mathematics and accounting and financial processes.
• Attention to detail and ethical behavior.
• Ability to work overtime as needed to achieve reporting deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Vendor invoice payment processing for FEIC entities.
• Journal entries for periodic financial statement reporting for FEIC entities.
• Complying with all company, local, state, federal and CIMA accounting and financial regulations (surplus lines, sales & use tax, 1099s, etc.).
• Billings and collections for insurance deductibles and reinsurance recoveries.
• Financial statement reporting for FEIC by 45 days from each quarter end.
• Complex and large volume of reconciliations (bank accounts, insurance program bordereaux by carrier and program year, security deposits, fixed assets, etc.).
• Compiling, analyzing, and reporting financial data.
• Creating periodic reports, such as balance sheets, profit & loss statements, etc. for multiple entities.
• Maintaining accurate financial records.
• Performing reconciliation audits and resolving discrepancies.
• Preparing schedules and responding to auditor queries.
