Louisiana Works, Office of Workforce Development, is seeking a Rehabilitation Counselor-Entry or Rehabilitation Counselor to perform casework and assist people with disabilities in obtaining, maintaining, and advancing in employment in Lake Charles, LA. Travel may be required.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree (or master’s) in a rehabilitation-related field and experience in rehabilitation, social services, or related areas, with strong counseling and coordination skills to

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree plus one year of experience in rehabilitation services, social services, administrative services, therapy services, or nursing.
Bachelor’s degree in a rehabilitation field, a social sciences field, social work, education, nursing, health and human services, speech therapy, or business administration.
Master’s degree.

Responsabilités

Schedules interviews to assess the functional limitations and vocational potential of possible rehabilitation consumers.
Determines eligibility for rehabilitation services after reviewing comprehensive medical and psychosocial evaluations.
Coordinates consumers' plan of rehabilitation to include agreements providing vocational guidance and counseling, training programs, and other needed services, utilizing available resources to achieve maximum rehabilitation.
Maintains knowledge of accommodations/technology to remove or eliminate barriers to employment.
Interacts with the consumer to assess his/her needs and problems to determine the best solution vocationally and socially, and assists the consumer with improving interpersonal skills, understanding the labor market, and achieving successful employment.
Provides counseling to consumers, family members, and significant others in relation to the vocational plan, services provided, and the expected outcome.
Maintains adequate caseload flow and organization.
Schedules supervisory meetings with the consumer, returns phone calls, processes mail, and is responsible for the appropriate expenditure of public funds.
Maintains an extensive network of employer contacts and labor market information to assist consumers in achieving employment.
Other duties as assigned; Travel may be required.
