Georgia Department of Human Services in Milledgeville, GA seeks a Child Welfare Services Case Manager 1 to provide investigative and comprehensive case management for cases involving child and adult abuse or neglect. This role reports to the Child Welfare Supervisor in DFCS.

Under supervision, you will be assigned a caseload, conduct safety assessments, develop safety plans, and collaborate with families to achieve permanency while meeting statutory requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Experience in case management and protective services is preferred.
• Knowledge of safety planning and mandatory reporting.
• Strong communication and collaboration with families and partners.

Responsabilités

• Initiates timely face-to-face responses to screened-in reports of alleged child maltreatment and conducts safety assessments.
• Addresses identified safety concerns by developing and implementing safety plans.
• Conducts searches to locate the child/family when contact is unavailable.
• Implements Solution Based Casework (SBC).
• Develops and utilizes Family Functioning, Action Plan, and Family Plan with families to improve outcomes.
• Completes genograms to identify family support networks.
• Collaborates with community partners to build support systems for families.
• Ensures visits support safety, permanency, and well-being of children and families.
• Identifies health, educational, and behavioral needs and ensures they are addressed.
• Establishes permanency goals for children and aims for timely permanency.
• Ensures stable foster care placements aligned with permanency goals.
• Works to achieve permanency promptly under relevant laws.
• Places siblings together unless separation is necessary for a child’s needs.
• Maintains connections to community, faith, family, school, and friends.
• Fosters nurturing relations between children and their birth/caretaker families.
• Documents case management activities within policy timeframes.
• Celebrates positive outcomes with families and children.
• Uses a privately owned vehicle for work-related travel (including transporting children).
• Routinely serves on after-hours on-call duty.
• Commits to ongoing learning and professional development opportunities.
