Job summary

Rice County is seeking an Eligibility Worker to help residents access public assistance programs in line with federal, state, and county policies. You will determine initial and ongoing eligibility for cash assistance, food support, healthcare, and other programs.

Responsibilities include interviewing applicants, documenting case notes in METS/MAXIS, and communicating clearly with diverse clients. Bilingual in Somali or Spanish is a plus. This is a full-time role with standard business hours.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; or relevant college credits.
• Technical college Public Welfare Eligibility Worker diploma program is acceptable.
• Experience working with the public or in social services is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Determine initial and ongoing eligibility for multiple assistance programs.
• Maintain case records and update METS/MAXIS and related systems.
• Respond to inquiries from other providers within guidelines.
• Attend trainings and meetings to stay current with policy changes.
