Job summary

County of Dare is seeking an intermediate advanced income maintenance worker to determine eligibility for public assistance programs and manage records and reports. The role involves interviewing applicants, verifying income and residency, and preparing budgets for eligibility decisions.

You will coordinate with hospitals and health departments, process applications and recertifications, and provide guidance to clients while maintaining data and generating reports under supervision.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Moderate experience in related field or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Complete NC Fast training within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Interviews applicants for Public Assistance programs and determines eligibility using NC FAST.
  • Verifies eligibility factors such as income, residency, ownership of property, shelter and medical expenses to provide benefits.
  • Completes budget to determine eligibility for programs.
  • Explains programs to applicants and to the public.
  • Completes Food and Nutrition reviews and Medicaid reviews as assigned.
  • Completes applications and recertifications as assigned.
  • Coordinates with hospitals, health departments and child support.
  • Maintains statistical data and provides other assistance to clients through referrals.
  • Performs other assigned duties.
