Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital in Ohio is seeking a Clinical Speech Pathologist Fellow for a one-year PRN assignment. You will perform diagnostic tests, evaluate speech and swallowing, and interpret results to guide medical decisions.

Counseling patients and families, and crafting therapy plans are key parts of the role. Minimum qualifications include a Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology and eligibility for an SLP Conditional License in Ohio.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology required.
• Eligible for SLP Conditional License (COND.SP) in Ohio.
• Conditional Ohio license required at start date.
• Meet ASHA CCC-SLP guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical services to patients.
• Perform diagnostic speech pathology test procedures and evaluate communication and swallowing function of patients under supervision.
• Interpret and report test results to facilitate medical diagnosis.
• Provide counseling and education about communication and the diagnosis to patients and families.
• Determine therapeutic plans, including the need for therapy, frequency of treatment, focus for intervention, prognosis and duration of therapy.
• Select assistive speech devices to improve the patient’s communication.
• Perform re-evaluation to determine progress after therapy.
• Maintain records of all services.
• Communicate results and recommendations for improving communicative function to referral sources and outside agencies.
• Maintain speech pathology equipment and materials.
• Assist with planning, budget, service or project development, fee setting, purchase of new equipment or materials.
