Job summary

Northeast Baptist Hospital is part of Baptist Health System in Texas and seeks a Physical Therapist for PRN DAYS coverage. The role involves evaluating and treating patients, coordinating with a multidisciplinary team, and contributing to performance improvement efforts.

The ideal candidate will hold a Texas State license (or be eligible) and have BLS certification, with the ability to work in a fast-paced hospital setting and support patient-centered care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapy is required.
• Master’s or Doctorate in Physical Therapy is preferred.
• No prior work experience is necessary for new graduates; progression to PT Level II after 3 full years/beginning of 4th year may be eligible.
• Clinical experience in outpatient and inpatient care, marketing and business familiarity; Spanish proficiency is a plus.
• Texas State license required prior to orientation; current license for others.
• Active healthcare provider BLS required on hire; AHA BLS within 60 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Interprets physician orders and requests interpretation as necessary.
• Administers and interprets tests and measurements of patients.
• Reviews patient chart and progress prior to treatment and modifies the treatment plan accordingly.
• Develops realistic functional goals based on patient and/or family expectations.
• Instructs and involves patient, family, social worker, nursing staff and discharge planner in patient’s progress and discharge plans, participating in appropriate meetings.
• Maintains documentation on all treatments.
• Uses appropriate modalities and procedures correctly demonstrating knowledge of indications and contraindications.
• Assures appropriate equipment performance prior to each use.
• Organizes schedule to reflect patient priorities, needs of other staff, and the department needs and responsibilities.
• Provides in-service to staff.
• Provides clinical education for PT students.
• Utilizes supportive personnel and supervises administration of treatment plans.
• Informs supervisor of incidents, accidents, equipment failure or unusual physician or patient problems immediately, initiating appropriate action.
• Maintains a working knowledge of routine clerical procedures.
• Utilizes resources efficiently and effectively.
• Maintains safe environment.
• Addresses patient population–specific needs.
• Participates in Performance Improvement activities
