Qualifications

• Must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse (Maine Registered Professional Nurse).
• Must possess certification as a school nurse (524) from the Maine Department of Education.
• At least three (3) years of experience as a professional registered nurse.
• A baccalaureate degree is required; if not held, candidate must be matriculating in a program to gain a baccalaureate degree.
• Current certification in CPR/AED for healthcare providers is required.

Responsibilities

• Assess students referred by staff or presenting to the health office using health history, records, and physical assessment.
• Collaborate with school physician, families, teachers, counselors, and community providers to support student health and learning.
• Provide nursing interventions for acute and chronic health and behavioral concerns.
• Administer and document medications according to district policy.
• Maintain student privacy and confidentiality per HIPAA and FERPA; document actions.
