Job summary

ServingSchools is seeking a Substitute School Nurse in Kennebunk, ME to support student health services in RSU 21. The role focuses on promoting health and safety, collaborating with families and staff, and ensuring timely health interventions for students.

Successful candidates will hold a Maine RN license, Maine DOE School Nurse certification, and a Bachelor's degree (or be pursuing one) with CPR/AED certification. Prior nursing experience in schools preferred.

Qualifications

• Must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse (Maine RN).
• Must possess Maine DOE School Nurse certification (524).
• Bachelor's degree required; if not, must matriculate in a program to obtain a bachelor's degree.
• Current CPR/AED for healthcare providers required.

Responsibilities

• Assess students referred by staff using health history and physical assessment to identify health concerns.
• Collaborate with school physician, families, teachers, counselors, social workers, and administrators to address health needs.
• Provide nursing interventions for acute and chronic health, emotional, mental health, and behavioral concerns.
• Administer and document medications according to district policy.
• Maintain student privacy and confidentiality per HIPAA, FERPA, and district policy.
• Communicate with school personnel regarding student health issues.
