Job summary

Sedgwick County Education & Outreach Specialist for Aging & Disabilities leads outreach to seniors, caregivers, and professionals, delivering presentations and coordinating workshops that support community health education.

Requirements include a high school diploma, 2+ years in education/outreach, and a valid driver’s license; a bachelor’s degree and SHICK/AIRS bilingual skills are preferred. This is a field-facing role with community engagement across Wichita, KS.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years’ experience in education, marketing/outreach, or related field.
• Two years’ experience in human service with emphasis on adults 60+.
• One year of experience creating and delivering presentations.
• Valid US driver’s license without restrictions and proof of automobile insurance.
• SHICK Counselor Certification upon hire.
• Bachelor’s degree in Gerontology, Human Services, Education, Communications, Marketing, Public Administration, or related field preferred.
• AIRS Information and Referral/Assistance Certification preferred.
• Bilingual in English and another language preferred.

Responsibilities

• Promote agency programs to professionals, older adults, caregivers, and the public through outreach activities.
• Coordinate and facilitate Aging Network meetings for aging and disability professionals.
• Develop and coordinate education programs and in-service trainings.
• Provide outreach presentations at community events and health fairs.
• Document events and contacts in MIS; maintain newsletters.
• Recruit volunteers for SHICK program.
