Job summary

Gateway Regional Medical Center in Miami, FL seeks a dedicated Occupational Therapist to provide comprehensive OT services within an interdisciplinary team. The role includes assessment, planning, and delivering therapy to adult and geriatric patients, with emphasis on safe discharge and continuity of care.

Education requires OT program graduation and state licensure eligibility. Prior healthcare experience and strong communication skills are preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an Occupational Therapy Program approved by CAHEA of the AMA in collaboration with the AOTA.
• Holds current state licensure or eligible for permanent license within 6 months of hire.
• Experience working with adult and geriatric populations preferred.
• 1 year healthcare experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient’s ability to safely perform independent living tasks and design a treatment plan.
• Implement treatment plan and monitor patient progress.
• Educate patient and family about deficits and safe discharge with continued therapy.
• Assist discharge planning to ensure continuity of care after leaving hospital.
• Maintain documentation detailing patient response to therapy and intervention needs.
• Evaluate patient based on physician orders and ongoing treatment results.
• Conduct initial assessments within 24 hours of admission.
• Provide age-appropriate therapy modalities as prescribed by physician.
• Educate patients, families, students, staff and public about therapy.
• Maintain a professional image and participate in quality improvement activities.
• Attend mandatory hospital-wide education seminars.
