Job summary

School District 27J is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional Generalist for a middle school assignment in Colorado. The role focuses on implementing IEP-based instruction and supervision in both general and special education settings.

The ideal candidate will assist with adapting materials, monitor behavior per the plan, support student interactions, and maintain records. A high school diploma is required, with CPR/First Aid preferred and a background check mandatory.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as Behavior Plans and IEPs.
• Ability to collect data, write routine reports and simple correspondences.
• Ability to effectively present information to teachers and related services providers.
• Ability to solve practical problems with concrete variables.
• Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) preferred.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
• Experience working with students with disabilities preferred.
• Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
• Must pass a post offer, pre-employment physical and background check.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct instruction and/or academic support and supervision for students with disabilities in accordance with IEPs.
• Modify academic materials under direction from teachers and assist with instruction delivery.
• Identify and facilitate peer relationships and natural supports.
• Follow behavior intervention plans and monitor safety in school and activities.
• Maintain required forms and records as requested.
• De-escalate students using CPI measures and IEP guidelines.
• Consult with teachers regarding best practices in special education.
• Assist students with special needs including toileting, eating, positioning or communication.
• Communicate observations and progress with educators and related staff.
• Assist with minor clerical duties as needed.
• Attend trainings as required by administration and specialists.
