Job summary

Schechter Boston seeks a Middle School Boys Soccer Assistant Coach for Fall 2026 to support Grades 6–8 on Mondays and Wednesdays after school. Practices 3:15–4:15 p.m., games Mondays/Wednesdays; Sept 9–Nov 11. Compensation includes a $1,500 coaching stipend and an opportunity to work with enthusiastic middle school students.

The role emphasizes skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship in a safe, inclusive environment and requires background checks and training as part of school policy.

Qualifications

• Experience coaching or playing soccer; preference for working with middle school students
• Ability to teach soccer fundamentals, rules, and strategy
• Strong, patient, and encouraging approach with young athletes
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Commitment to safe, respectful, and inclusive team environment

Responsibilities

• Assist head coach in planning and leading practices that develop skills
• Teach and reinforce shooting, passing, dribbling, positioning and game strategy
• Provide individualized instruction and encouragement to players of varying abilities
• Assist with game preparation and coaching during competitions
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and spirited team environment
• Promote sportsmanship, teamwork, and school pride
• Encourage confidence, resilience, and growth mindset on and off the field
• Communicate with players, families, and staff as appropriate
• Collaborate with athletics staff to support middle school program
