Job summary

Lonza in Bend, Oregon is seeking a Project Engineer I to lead small engineering and operational improvement projects from planning through completion. You will support larger capital projects and develop scopes, schedules, budgets, and execution plans, collaborating with internal teams, contractors, and equipment suppliers.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in engineering and up to three years of experience in a regulated manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
• Up to three years of engineering experience in manufacturing or another regulated industry.
• Internship, co-op, or project experience supporting engineering projects is a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
• Familiarity with project management principles and engineering design concepts.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Microsoft Project, or similar engineering tools is beneficial.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, organization, and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead small engineering and operational improvement projects from planning through completion.
• Support larger capital projects while learning from experienced project and engineering leaders.
• Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, and execution plans.
• Coordinate with internal teams, contractors, vendors, and equipment suppliers.
• Support equipment installation, startup, commissioning, and qualification activities.
• Ensure projects meet safety, quality, engineering, and regulatory requirements.
• Identify opportunities to improve project delivery, engineering standards, and equipment reliability.
