Job summary

Washington State House of Representatives is seeking a Legislative Assistant to Rep. Osman Salahuddin in the House Democratic Caucus. The role supports administration, office management, research, and constituent communication, with a full-time year-round status and union representation.

Hybrid work during interim with onsite presence required during the legislative session. Salary ranges from $60,732 to $105,240 annually, with state-based salary credit for experience and education.

Qualifications

• Two years of office management and administrative support experience.
• Strong writing, editing, and oral communication skills; professional correspondence.
• Ability to manage multiple responsibilities under time constraints with confidentiality.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite; video conference tech experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily operation of Olympia and/or district office.
• Maintain office records in accordance with law.
• Answer phone and serve as first contact for callers and visitors.
• Manage Representative’s calendar including scheduling and travel arrangements.
• Track bills through drafting and legislative process and deadlines.
• Draft responses to emails, letters, and calls; handle high volume inquiries.
• Facilitate constituent communication with agencies and problem solving."
• Submit detailed accounting reports for member travel and expense reimbursement.
