Job summary

Office of Juvenile Justice in Baton Rouge seeks a Probation and Parole Officer (Juvenile) to supervise youth, conduct risk assessments, and coordinate services with families, schools, courts and providers. You will develop individual plans, monitor progress, and respond to crises while maintaining detailed records.

Qualified candidates will have 3+ years in corrections or law enforcement, or related fields, and a relevant degree.

Qualifications

• Three years of experience in corrections or law enforcement; OR
• Three years of continuous active military duty; OR
• Six years of full-time experience in any field; OR
• A bachelor's degree.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and supervise youth under court-ordered supervision.
• Conduct risk and needs assessments to guide supervision levels.
• Perform home, school, field, and community visits to track progress.
• Collaborate with families, schools, courts, and service providers.
• Develop and monitor individualized supervision and treatment plans.
• Connect youth with community resources and services.
• Maintain case files and reports per agency rules.
• Participate in court proceedings and provide testimony when needed.
• Respond to crises and recommend interventions.
• Provide leadership and mentoring to staff and help with program improvements.
