Job summary

The Hamilton County Prosecutor's Office seeks an Investigator in the Conviction Integrity Unit to conduct intensive investigations into claims of innocence and to testify in court. You will manage case files, interview witnesses, and collaborate with law enforcement partners to ensure thorough, ethical investigations.

The role requires a high school diploma plus substantial law enforcement and investigative experience, strong critical thinking, and meticulous record-keeping.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 10 years total experience including five years in law enforcement and five years criminal investigatory experience.
  • Valid State of Ohio driver’s license.
  • Critical thinking and decision-making skills.
  • Fairness, strong work ethic and integrity.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word and Outlook.
  • Detail oriented, flexible and quick learning ability.
  • Good time management and prioritization to ensure timely completion of responsibilities.
  • Ability to conduct business in accordance with State and Federal statutes and guidelines.
  • Ability to perform all other duties assigned, delegated, or required of the Investigator.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive investigations, interview witnesses and suspects; collect and analyze information; collect and secure evidence; perform research and file searches; provide surveillance and testify in court as needed.
  • Locate, collect, organize, and analyze case files, including law enforcement reports, court documents, and physical/digital evidence.
  • Maintain accurate case files and track multiple investigations with changing priorities.
  • Review applications and supporting materials alleging wrongful convictions or related injustices.
  • Operate office computer and generate reports; maintain detailed records and photos.
  • Attend trainings and qualify in firearms as required.
  • Collaborate with CIU personnel and external law enforcement partners.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
