Job summary

Pima County Public Defender's Office is seeking a qualified Defense Investigator to help uncover the truth and support the defense of clients in criminal cases, juvenile delinquency and dependency proceedings. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an accredited field related to law enforcement or investigations and two years of investigative experience are required; education may substitute for experience.
• Five years of investigative experience with at least three in criminal investigations; education can substitute for part of the experience.

Responsibilities

• Locates, identifies, and interviews clients and witnesses, including sensitive issues.
• Identifies and processes evidence, including electronic evidence and crime scene items.
• Interprets lab reports (DNA, fingerprints, tools, firearms) and specialized law enforcement reports.
• Prepares reports to assist in defense of clients and testifies in court.
• Serves subpoenas and reviews case information to determine investigative methods.
