Job summary

Safe Passage Project seeks a Temporary Staff Attorney to represent immigrant children in immigration and related proceedings from October 2026 through March 2027. Based in our NYC office, you will guide pro bono attorneys through Family Court and Immigration Court, and through Asylum Office representations.

The role emphasizes trauma-informed practice with a strong commitment to vulnerable youth. You will work within a team of public interest attorneys to maximize outcomes for clients, with

Qualifications

• J.D. degree and admission to a state bar (required); NY bar preferred.
• At least two years of family or immigration law experience.
• Fluency in Spanish and strong written, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and on interdisciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment.
• Sensitivity to diversity and trauma-informed approaches.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct representation to Safe Passage Project clients.
• Supervise and mentor pro bono attorneys.
• Screen immigrant children and organize legal screenings.
• Provide detailed reporting statistics on each case mentored and represented.
