Job summary

City of Alexandria is seeking a Human Services Benefits Programs Supervisor to oversee eligibility determinations and supervise staff within the Center for Economic Supervisory Team. You will supervise specialists, train staff, and ensure program compliance across SNAP, Medicaid and related benefits.

You will coordinate reviews, generate reports from VaCMS, Data Warehouse, and VACMS, and lead initiatives to improve service delivery while maintaining data accuracy and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in the human services field and supervisory lead experience or equivalent combination.
• Extensive knowledge of public assistance programs and casework supervision.
• Working knowledge of computer systems and state human services software; ability to operate office software.

Responsibilities

• Oversee assigned staff including performance management and work planning.
• Conduct monthly and individual staff meetings.
• Provide consultative services in complex situations with staff and customers.
• Apply customer service skills to ensure commitments are met.
• Effectively listen, mediate, and resolve complaints.
• Analyze situations and determine appropriate actions.
• Monitor and report data for benefit determinations and staffing using state/federal systems.
• Plan and supervise administration of federal/state/local financial assistance programs.
