Job summary

Manassas Park City Schools is seeking a 2026-2027 Varsity Assistant Football Coach (HS) to assist the Head Coach and Athletic Director in developing athletes, teaching fundamentals, and executing game plans for team success.

The role requires knowledge of the sport, prior coaching experience, and adherence to district policies and VHSL guidelines. Stipend of $3,500 for the season, prorated by start date, with on-site duties.

Qualifications

• MPCS staff preferred.
• Knowledge and background in assigned sport.
• Previous coaching experience in assigned sport is desirable.
• Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of employment and meet all MPCS, VHSL, and applicable training requirements for athletic coaches.

Responsibilities

• Instruct athletes in fundamentals, strategies, and training for individual and team success.
• Instructs participants on personal hygiene and safety procedures and report injuries to coach/trainer.
• Fosters values of athletics, sportsmanship, pride in self, team, school, and community.
• Provides information on the school insurance program to students.
• Maintains a safe environment through supervision.
• Assists Head Coach with performance records and equipment inventories.
• Conveys team, school, and MPCS policies to participants.
• Ensures compliance with VHSL rules and MPCS guidelines.
• Follows School Activity Funds policies for financial transactions.
• Establishes communication with parents/guardians.
• Encourages student participation in athletic programs.
• Assists Head Coach with public relations for athletic programs.
• Responds appropriately to injury situations.
• Ensures availability of first aid and emergency care cards.
• Inspects facilities and equipment for safety.
• Participates in professional growth activities.
• Participates in school award programs.
