Job summary

Sarah’s Circle, based in Uptown Chicago, seeks a Leasing & Occupancy Manager to secure housing for the agency and manage occupant eligibility under HUD/CHA rules. The role supports PSH housing, collaborates with program managers, and involves occasional travel to off-site locations with mileage reimbursement.

The position requires a BA/BS in a related field, 3–5 years in affordable housing, and familiarity with Yardi/OneSite. A valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle are needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, psychology or related field preferred.
• 3–5 years’ experience in the Affordable Housing Field (including CHA, HUD, and IHDA) preferred.
• Experience with women who are homeless and/or individuals struggling with mental illness, substance abuse, or a history of trauma.
• Working knowledge of applicable local and federal housing laws, including Fair Housing and Tenant laws.
• Experience with affordable housing developments and property management software such as Yardi and/or OneSite.
• Certifications such as COS or affordable housing management/compliance courses preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee new apartment rent-up, ongoing eligibility and support for PSH housing.
• Process applications: credit checks, income verification and background tasks.
• Work on CHA site-based wait list, briefings, orientations, and market units to applicants.
• Collect rents and prepare maintenance/ delinquency statements and notices.
• Assist with marketing of new apartments and respond to tenant inquiries.
• Coordinate lease execution, inspections, and move-ins to ensure housing quality standards.
