Job summary

Duke Health is seeking an Analytics Engineer to partner with the Department of Pharmacy leadership, translating healthcare data into reporting, analytics, and decision-support solutions. You will design governed analytics assets to support medication use, pharmacy operations, quality, patient safety, and regulatory reporting.

The role emphasizes SQL development, semantic modeling, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to improve data collection, reporting efficiency, and governance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or four years of equivalent technical experience.
• Level 1 requires no experience beyond the minimum education (or equivalency) requirement.
• Level 2 requires two years of directly related experience.
• Level 3 requires four years of directly related experience.
• Follow all policies and procedures set forth by DUHS/DHTS/ACE as they pertain to the role.
• Experience in healthcare analytics, pharmacy operations, quality improvement, and regulatory reporting preferred.
• Epic certification or proficiency with Epic data models and healthcare analytics platforms preferred.
• Experience with Microsoft Fabric, semantic models, Power BI, Lakehouse, Data Warehouse, Dataflows, Pipelines or related analytics capabilities preferred.
• Experience developing Power BI and Tableau dashboards, reports, and self-service analytics solutions.
• Experience with Azure DevOps (ADO), Git, GitLab, source control, and CI/CD deployment practices.
• Strong SQL development, data governance, and analytical problem-solving skills.
• Ability to translate business requirements into technical deliverables and data models.
• Hybrid work arrangement based in Durham, NC with periodic onsite collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Pharmacy leadership and SMEs to understand needs and deliver data-driven solutions.
• Provide proactive stakeholder communication on project progress, risks, and opportunities.
• Design, develop, validate, document, and maintain reporting, semantic models, and analytics solutions.
• Develop and maintain SQL queries, data transformations, and governed analytics assets.
• Translate analytical findings into clear insights for frontline teams and executives.
• Support quality improvement, patient safety, and operational excellence via analytics.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to improve data collection, reporting efficiency, and data quality.
• Participate in analytics engineering best practices, including documentation, version control, peer review, testing, and deployment.
