Job summary

Kaiser Permanente is seeking a Health Education Specialist to assess, design, implement and evaluate health education programs for members and the community. The role coordinates services, develops materials, and collaborates with clinicians to promote cost-effective health education.

The candidate should have a Masters degree in a related field, experience in curriculum development, and strong communication skills. Some travel and scheduling flexibility may be required.

Qualifications

• Must have a Masters degree in a field related to the position.
• Experience in curriculum development is required.
• Knowledge of behavior change, adult learning theory, and group process theory.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with PC applications is required.
• Demonstrates working knowledge of mainframe and personal computing systems.

Responsibilities

• Assesses, designs, implements, presents, and evaluates health education programs and services.
• Coordinates health education services including referrals, publicity, scheduling, and documentation.
• Provides direct group or one-on-one health education services.
• Reviews and develops culturally appropriate health education materials.
• Consults with physicians and staff on health education services.
• Coordinates health information projects such as catalogs, newsletters, displays, and events.
• Specializes in a specific area of health education as required.
• Prepares reports, grants, proposals, and documentation as assigned.
• Participates in setting department strategic goals and priorities.
• Other duties as assigned.
