The roles analyze risk, pricing factors, and plan design, with responsibilities and approval authority increasing by level; collaboration with internal teams, brokers, and clients is essential.

Qualifications

• Entry-level underwriting with supervision on basic group insurance applications; approval up to 1,000 lives.
• Senior underwriter handles more complex group insurance apps; approval up to 5,000 lives.
• Lead underwriter handles the most complex cases; approval up to 10,000 lives; health experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate employer group medical stop loss submissions and support underwriting decisions for new business and renewals.
• Analyze risk factors: demographics, claims experience, large claimant activity, plan design, funding, and profitability.
• Ensure alignment with underwriting guidelines and effective administration; communicate decisions clearly.
