Job summary

YMCA of Honolulu is seeking a qualified Group Exercise Instructor to lead safe, effective fitness classes and serve as a YMCA representative. You will work under supervision from the Group Exercise Coordinator or Healthy Lifestyles Director and provide quality customer service to members.

The role requires maintaining CPR/AED and First Aid, specialty and national certifications, and a professional appearance while engaging participants in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• CPR/AED and First Aid certification required.
• Certification in a specialty group exercise format required.
• National certification in group exercise required for some levels.
• TB clearance required.

Responsibilities

• Teaches assigned group exercise classes or arranges coverage as scheduled.
• Conducts safe, effective, and engaging workouts per schedule and YMCA standards.
• Communicates group exercise program details and class substitutions to members.
• Develops member relationships and provides encouragement and motivation.
• Announces schedule changes, new classes, and special events as needed.
• Provides modifications to meet varying participant levels.
