Job summary

The YMCA of Honolulu is seeking a Group Exercise Instructor to lead safe, engaging classes and represent the YMCA in the community. You will schedule, teach, or arrange substitutes, ensure quality workouts, and communicate with members under supervision of the Group Exercise Coordinator or Healthy Lifestyles Director.

Responsibilities include maintaining certifications (CPR/AED and First Aid), delivering modifications for all levels, and upholding YMCA standards and youth safety policies while

Qualifications

• Knowledge of designing, conducting, and implementing safe group exercise classes.
• Knowledge of general health and wellness.
• Experience in health/fitness field preferred.
• CPR/AED and First Aid certification required.
• Specialty format certifications and national group exercise credentials preferred.

Responsibilities

• Teaches assigned class(es) or covers classes as needed, starting and ending on time.
• Finds substitutes in advance and notifies coordinators of substitutions.
• Maintains safety, adheres to YMCA standards, and communicates with members.
• Develops relationships with members and provides class modifications.
• Reports incidents and ensures youth protection policies are followed.
