Job summary

Wake County Public School System is seeking an English as a Second Language Teacher for the ESL-Academics team at a school site. The position requires planning, delivering, and aligning instruction with North Carolina ELD standards to support multilingual learners.

The teacher will monitor language progress, collaborate with staff, families, and the ESL department, and participate in required meetings and trainings. Monday–Friday schedule with some evenings and weekends. Exempt, on-site role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or advanced degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
• Experience teaching multilingual learners.
• Hold or be qualified to hold a North Carolina Professional Educator's License in education or ESL.

Responsibilities

• Fosters an inclusive, culturally and linguistically supportive environment for multilingual learners and collaborates with staff to ensure consistent support schoolwide.
• Plans, delivers, and aligns instruction with the goals and objectives of the North Carolina English Language Development (ELD) Standards.
• Monitors multilingual learners' language progress.
• Interacts effectively with students, staff, families, and administration to support and promote the ESL program.
• Engages families of multilingual learners through different educational opportunities.
• Maintains paperwork in compliance with district, state, and federal requirements, including Multilingual Learner (ML) Plans and parent notification letters.
