Job summary

Wake County Public School System seeks a Senior Administrator-English as a Second Language (ESL) to support the ESL Director in implementing a robust K-12 language assistance program. The role requires oversight of EL testing, ELP assessments, and compliance with state and federal requirements for EL learners.

The successful candidate will possess a Master’s degree in education, NC licensure eligibility, and at least five years in NC public schools, with proven leadership in program development

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in education from an accredited college or university.
• Five years of experience working in North Carolina public schools.
• Experience developing and implementing educational programs and service for EL students.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning annual budget for ESL program.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws, regulations and policies related to Els.
• Maintain knowledge of current trends, developments, and research in the field of ESL and ELs.
• Assist in allocating district ESL teacher MOE each spring, and coordinate with HR as needed.
• Support principals in coordination of itinerant ESL teachers.
• Assist in recruiting and recommending qualified EL candidates and implementing program requirements.
• Plan and facilitate professional learning for K-12 ESL teachers, classroom teachers, and administrators.
• Collaborate with district partners and teams to improve local practices.
• Perform other related duties, as assigned.
