Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must meet Minnesota Paraprofessional requirements (e.g., Associate's degree, 60 college credits, or ParaPro).
• Prior experience with children, especially with special needs, is preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Patient, empathetic and positive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Instructional Support: Assist lead teacher with individualized or small-group instruction per IEPs.
• Student Engagement: Maintain focus and engagement in general and special education settings.
• Behavioral Support: Implement BIPs and de-escalate challenging behaviors using district guidelines.
• Data Collection: Observe, record, and chart students' progress.
• Personal Care: Assist students with daily living activities if needed.
• Classroom Management: Prepare materials, set up assistive tech, keep a welcoming classroom.
