Job summary

Options for Learning in California is seeking an Early Learning Assistant to support teaching staff, implement curriculum, and maintain a safe, caring classroom for children in our Early Learning or School-age programs. You will follow organization policies, supervise enrolled children, and help deliver a high-quality program while engaging families and collaborating with site staff and partners.

Qualified candidates bring a Child Development Associate permit and an Associate degree preferred,

Qualifications

• Child Development Associate permit required
• Associate degree in child development or related field preferred
• Current pediatric CPR and pediatric first aid certifications required and renew every 2 years
• Health screening and TB clearance required and renewed every 5 years
• Immunization proof for TDap, MMR, whooping cough, and yearly influenza
• Background screening completed
• Mandated reporter training renewal every 2 years
• Ability to communicate in English effectively
• California driver’s license preferred
• Spanish/Cantonese/Mandarin/Vietnamese language skills preferred

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement classroom activities based on program curriculum
• Supervise and interact with children positively
• Develop and maintain learning centers reflecting children's interests
• Provide a variety of active learning experiences
• Ensure a well-supervised and safe environment
• Assist with lesson planning and supervision of assistants
• Coordinate with teachers and school administration
• Maintain clean and sanitary facilities according to center checklist
