Job summary

Prince Edward County Public Schools seeks an Early Childhood Special Education Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. You will provide specialized instruction and support to young children with disabilities in inclusive or specialized settings, and help develop individualized educational programs (IEPs).

You will design developmentally appropriate learning experiences, collaborate with staff, monitor progress with data, and ensure compliance with state regulations and school policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in education or related teaching field.
• Knowledge of IEP development and implementation.
• Familiarity with early childhood developmental stages and related laws.

Responsibilities

• Assesses students and participates in eligibility meetings.
• Develops IEPs and designs measurable lesson objectives.
• Monitors progress with data and adjusts instruction accordingly.
• Maintains accurate records and collaborates with general education staff.
• Supervises paraprofessionals and plans learning activities.
• Writes and implements behavior plans based on functional assessments.
• Establishes positive relationships with parents and service providers.
