Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Department of Human Services is seeking a County Caseworker 1 in Lycoming County to support children and families in the Child Welfare Office. This role focuses on assessing requests for services, coordinating resources, and ensuring the safety and wellbeing of children through home visits and case documentation.

Full-time position with normal business hours (8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, Mon-Fri). No telework option.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 or two years of college coursework with 12 credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice or related social sciences.
• Bachelor's degree including 12 credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice or related social sciences.
• Equivalently, 12 college credits in those fields plus one year of paraprofessional case management experience.

Responsibilities

• Referral Assessment: Receive and evaluate requests for services to determine steps for families.
• Family Evaluation: Conduct short-term assessments through interviews and home visits to identify needs.
• Safety Assurance: Monitor children through required contacts to ensure safety, stability and wellbeing.
• Case Documentation: Maintain case records and enter information into required systems to support service planning.
• Resource Coordination: Help families access services and provide transportation when appropriate.
• Client Engagement: Work with clients to build strengths and connect them with needed supports.
