Job summary

The State of Colorado is seeking an experienced High School Equivalency (HSE) Instructor to deliver adult education within the Arkansas Valley Correctional Facility in Ordway. The position aligns with the Colorado Department of Education approved Curriculum for Adult Basic Education and includes oversight of the Cognitive Education Program.

You will teach and mentor inmate students, assess progress with appropriate performance measures, prepare reports, and maintain records while supporting

Responsibilities

• Teach and mentor inmate students individually or in small/large groups
• Determine educational needs and develop short and long term goals
• Develop and implement competency-based teaching aids and instructional materials
• Lecture on theories, concepts and terminology
• Select and administer appropriate performance assessments to measure progress
• Prepare reports and maintain records of grades, attendance, and training activities
• Observe and evaluate inmate work to provide feedback and suggest improvements
• Document inmate achievements and contact hours toward certificate completion
• Participate in conferences, seminars, and training to stay current in the field
• Promote safety, security, and teamwork within the facility
