Job summary

Colorado Department of Corrections seeks an educator to provide High School Equivalency instruction within a correctional facility, delivering instruction, training and assessments aligned with the CDE curriculum for Adult Basic Education. The role also oversees the Cognitive Education Program and requires collaboration with fellow teachers to maintain a safe, supportive learning environment for inmates.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's in education, appropriate Colorado teaching

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in education related field required.
• Must possess at least one of the following credentials: Colorado Initial/Professional Teacher License; Adult Basic Education Authorization; Colorado Interim Authorization.

Responsibilities

• TEaches and mentors inmate students individually or in groups to promote occupational, academic and transitional skills.
• Determines educational needs of inmate students to develop goals.
• Plans course content and develops instruction methods.
• Develops instructional aids and materials; provides hands-on training.
• Administers assessments to measure progress and course completion.
• Maintains records of grades, attendance, and training activity.
