Job summary

Plymouth Public Schools is seeking a Category 1 Paraeducator for the Cold Spring School in Plymouth, MA. The position is part-time with a salary per hour and requires DESE qualifications, strong communication skills, and the ability to support a diverse student population.

The paraeducator will work under the building principal and supervising general education teachers, supporting safe and organized classrooms and assisting in various school settings.

Qualifications

• Highly qualified as per the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE).
• Proven ability to work with children with varying abilities in a polite and friendly manner and relate to administrators, parents, teachers, students, and staff.
• Possess good verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
• A sense of humor and the ability to work with staff, students, and the educational community.
• Alternative qualifications as deemed appropriate by the school department.

Responsibilities

• Assists the classroom/specialist teacher as needed.
• Works on educational tasks with one or more students as designated by the teacher.
• Assists in reviewing student work under the direction of the classroom teacher.
• Supervises students during instructional activities and transitions.
• Maintains confidentiality of student records and refers issues to the classroom teacher.
• Performs other duties designated by immediate supervisors.
• Escort children to and from transportation safely as directed by the supervising teacher.
• Collects data on student performance, goals and behavior for the supervising teacher.
