Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Brandywine invites applications for an Assistant Teacher. You will supervise students, maintain a safe, clean environment, and engage children to support development in a structured program aligned with YMCA standards.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, 2,500 hours of childcare experience, and current CDA certification. DHS trainings must be completed within 90 days of hire, with ongoing certifications tracked by the program.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 2,500 hours of childcare experience preferred.
• 30 college credits in early childhood, elementary or related human services field.
• 15 college credits and one year of care-related experience.
• Current CDA certificate and DHS certification within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Maintain supervision of all students.
• Provide a safe, clean, and risk-free environment.
• Engage with the children to encourage development and involvement in activities.
• Maintain accident, incident, attendance, and sign-in/out records.
• Greet parents and children daily and address parental concerns.
• Use positive guidance to support children.
• Follow DHS procedures and help others do as well.
• Provide care for the needs of children.
• Ensure compliance with YMCA policies and procedures.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
