Job summary

Oregon Department of Human Services is seeking a Child Protective Services Worker to safeguard children and coordinate safety plans. This role emphasizes critical thinking, collaboration, and compassionate engagement with families across Oregon.

Responsibilities include gathering evidence, developing safety plans, preparing case documentation, and testifying in court as needed. A valid driver’s license and a relevant degree are required, with extensive experience in human services preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in non-human services field with 1 year of relevant experience may satisfy requirements.
  • Associate degree with 2 years of human services related experience required.
  • Degree must be completed (not in progress).

Responsibilities

  • Gather information through interviews and home observations to evaluate safety and risk in child abuse or neglect cases.
  • Create safety and service plans connecting families with medical, mental health, parenting, and community resources.
  • Prepare accurate case documentation including reports and safety plans.
  • Participate in child-safety meetings and collaborate with families and partners.
  • Testify in court hearings and initiate court action when needed.
