Job summary

The Case Manager for Indigent Defendants will perform intakes and assessments for indigent defendants assigned an attorney through the Public Defender’s or Assigned Counsel office. They will provide immediate referrals and follow up to support services to improve outcomes.

Work is performed under supervision, with the population facing poverty, mental health or substance use issues, unemployment, housing instability, trauma history and other barriers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or higher in human services, criminal justice, social work or closely related field.
• Two years of experience in community service assessment, case management or counseling for individuals in need of services within the criminal justice system.
• Alternative combinations of education and experience may satisfy requirements.

Responsibilities

• Conduct intakes and assessments for indigent defendants.
• Provide referrals to service providers and follow up with sources and clients.
