Job summary

State of Oregon, Department of Human Services, is seeking a Case Aid (Social Service Assistant) to provide essential administrative support to caseworkers and assist with family coordination across community and home settings.

You will gather information, schedule and track services, transport clients as needed, and collaborate with community partners to ensure timely access to resources for children and families.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record required.
• One year of experience in a human services or behavioral health setting; OR an associate degree; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Essential attributes emphasize attention to detail, clear writing, and ability to engage with diverse populations.

Responsibilities

• Provide administrative support to caseworkers by assisting with case notes, documentation, and coordination of appointments and forms for families.
• Gather and enter information from collateral contacts into the agency’s electronic system.
• Support caseworkers with home visits, client contacts, transportation of clients, and ensuring children in care meet medical and mental health timelines.
• Transport children or parents to and from family time and supervise as needed.
• Communicate with community partners to coordinate resources and maintain a neighborhood/school district resource spreadsheet.
• Contact case participants or partners to obtain information for placement planning.
• Attend case-related meetings, staffing, and conferences to support casework activities.
• Assist with community and home visits with children and families.
• Potentially provide testimony in court regarding visitation observations and related information.
