Job summary

Center for Heirs’ Property in North Charleston, SC seeks a Communications & Storytelling Specialist to join the Marketing & Communications team. The role focuses on public inquiry management, storytelling, and content production that highlights landowners and communities CHP serves.

You will interview stakeholders, craft stories for newsletters, websites, and campaigns, and support digital content, photography, and events communications while maintaining organized operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, marketing, public relations, English, or related field (or equivalent).
• Excellent writing, editing, proofreading, and verbal communication skills.
• Strong interviewing and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Willingness to travel occasionally within South Carolina.

Responsibilities

• Public Inquiry Management: monitor and triage inquiries; acknowledge and route messages; maintain records; escalate when needed.
• Storytelling & Content Development: identify and develop stories; write and edit features for newsletters, websites, and campaigns.
• Digital Content & Campaign Support: create content for websites, newsletters, and social media; assist with website updates; produce graphics.
• Photography, Video & Field Content: capture photos and short-form video; basic editing; organize assets.
• Communications Operations: manage vendor agreements; process invoices; produce materials; coordinate production logistics.
• Collaboration & Organizational Support: work across teams; solicit story ideas; support editorial planning and campaigns.
