Job summary

The University of Kansas' Student Engagement Center is seeking a Student Hourly employee to support food security and campus programs in Lawrence. You will assist in the Campus Cupboard, events, and volunteer coordination while upholding safety and service standards.

Responsibilities include shopper assistance, food procurement support, stakeholder engagement, clothing closet organization, and event tabling. The role is hourly, on-site, with a start date in late August 2026 for the fall term.

Qualifications

• Excellent written communication skills.
• Valid and current driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Be present in the Cupboard during its hours of operation and available to help students shop to select nutritious food options. Ensure visitors are logged in and entered into Pantrysoft system.
• Coordinate food procurement and food recovery efforts for the Campus Cupboard through collaborative partnerships with Just Food, KU Dining, and other campus and community partners. Assist with food pickup and delivery in collaboration with Just Food.
• Cultivate and maintain positive partnerships with stakeholders including, but not limited to: Students, Student Organizations, University offices and departments, Supply partners.
• Work alongside volunteers. Provide brief training and support to volunteers working in the Cupboard.
• Organize and sort clothing received for clothing closet.
• Work tabling events to provide information about the Student Engagement Center.
• Follow policies related to: Safe food handling requirements, including dry, frozen, and/or refrigerated foods; Storage; Pest control; Food safety training
