Job summary

AARP Foundation Litigation in Washington, DC, offers a paid summer internship for rising 3L or advanced degree law students. This internship is full-time (40 hours/week) for 10–12 weeks, typically June–August, with a hybrid schedule allowing remote work on Mondays and Fridays.

Under supervision, you will conduct legal research, draft memoranda and pleadings, assist in civil discovery, and participate in litigation strategy.

Qualifications

  • Rising third-year or advanced degree law student at the start of the internship (Summer 2027).
  • Submit resume, cover letter, and a writing sample in a single document.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with WESTLAW and other legal research platforms.
  • Significant experience with The Blue Book: A Uniform System of Citation.
  • Demonstrated public interest/public service experience.
  • In-office/open office environment with the ability to work effectively surrounded by moderate noise.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct legal research.
  • Draft memoranda, pleadings, briefs, and other legal documents.
  • Assist in civil discovery.
  • Interview current and potential clients.
  • Work with outside co-counsel.
  • Participate in litigation strategy.
